I have been wishing for a long time that certain things would be added to the warpath games.. I see that dan is working on a new build.. maybe finally ill be able to see some of these features.
One thing, that I can see being very useful, and a new favorite, is a dropdown box for planet durability % at game hosting. For example, when you are setting up a game, you could set the planet durability to 1000%, so that someone with 20 nukes and a screamer cant wipe out any planet on the map with one attack run.
Another thing that would be sweet.. Is MORE LASERS! Personally I think the laser looks and sounds so much cooler than the torpedoes.. make MK2, MK3, etc ship lasers. Regrettably, after a certain point in the game, I usually end up swapping out the laser for something else as it is. Besides, all I end up using later is the hot plasmas.. for absolutely everything. Having some sort of weapon to compete with that would be nice.
And, of course (its been posted before) the AI could use a bit of a touch up.. At least have it stay in its own sector to start out. 30 seconds into the game I have them coming and mining out the planets in MY sector! (rather cheap to give them barrier shields so early, in my opinion)
Anybody else with more (remember, constructive, we arent trying to chase dan away) ideas, please, reply with them!

AND MORE TEAMS!!! instead of just red and green, allow players to choose diffrent paths, like: red, green, blue, yellow, ect... by doing this you can extend the game. instead of the game ending when one side looses all their planents, or ships, it would be more interesting.

hey, i posted the a.i. thing... cool... yeah, MORE GUNS!!! what i think (Of course, it will never happen...) is Dan should save the donations until he has enough to make a 3-d console version of warpath!!! that would be awesome!!!! on Xbox, so you could use Xbox live and play online with a million people, instead of 2 or 3 every now and then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are a lot of ideas i have, here are a fue of them:
The worm-hole tunnels are square, thay should look round.
Make the galactic population chart show the yellow population.
Make it where you can choose what sector you wan't to start in.

Hi, You can change the icons (ie.ships,races etc.) if you go to the subdirectory "art" and use an icon editor. We've changed some of the race pix to "Pikachu" "Barney" etc.
Just be sure to back up your orginals.

What I would like to see is more ship customizablilty (if that's a real word). In the late game in wp97 everybody has a full load of five of each type of pod, five shields, and 100 hot plasma. What would make the game more interesting is if each ship had a limited number of spaces for pods/shields, so you could choose to have a heavily shielded high speed warship, or a slow mining behemoth. Specialisation would also make teamwork more important than it currently is.
All the weapons should be useful. The only weapons I use in wp97 are hot plasma and neutron bombs. More lasers would be a good place to start. Maybe lasers could hit almost instantaneously but do very little damage, and hot plasma could move slowly but do a lot of damge. Most of the other weapons could do with higher damage ratings.

All nice ideas, especially the one with Xbox (even though i don't have one) But i was thinking it would be cool if the could buy blades and place them at a certain part of your to ram ships for just protects, it could also be used to instantly destroy those little ships. I'm waiting for more ideas anyway

Hmmmm, for warpath 21st, i'd have a suggestion too. Since Warpath Classic, I wish you can actually do more planetary stuff, e.g. interfere with Planets, do things to them, e.g. set up industry yourself. Just a few things.
Also, a nice feature would be, like comets that fly around the screen... and when there is a colission between them, a new planet would appear.
About the 256 colors... I looked at the icons in the art folder...they're all 16 colors. Where is it 256 colors ?

I think it would be neat if you could play it with an infinte number of teams and players. Maybe send messages to one particular person or is that already possible? One more idea is Make it possible to combine 2 or more weapons into one shot. Thanks for reading my ideas.

Just thought of something else. How about allowing characters to play as a person. Also maybe you could put transporters in the ships & make the AI's smarter.

I'd like to see the 20 hour free cap removed and a normal/golden account put in its place like on arcadia and WoS. I never see anybody on and mix servers are rarely if ever up. It would increase player counts to have the arcadia/wos based system set up for it.

Right. the upgrade model is much better because in this model you have a vicious circle.
Someone gets the demo. No one on so they dont get the activation because there will be no one to play with. Since they dont get the activation they stop playing, so there's no one on, so the next person doesnt get the activation. Rinse, Lather, Repeat.
Like jt said, it'd (when lots of players play) be worth it to get the golden. Possible things for the "golden neutron bomb" or whatev. :gnb-only servers where you have the many team thing, maybe 6 shields in the games, access to kickin' looking races/ships, etc.
Of course, dan's time is mostly into RC right now - but I bet warpath could be a great moneymaker like WoS (i assume) is.

clarification: by "moneymaker" i didn't mean profit, i meant something that keeps the cash cam nice and full. anyway, as far as i know warpath doesnt cost dan much at this point... bandwidth to download + server space. and the installer isn't THAT big. and what i'm saying is that it'd pay for itself if it was set up like WoS?

well at this point if he made it like wos then i would buy the gs right off the bat, id like to see like a benifit or two, but even if theres not, i like to make sure this site stays up. but yeah if dan could put in benifits as it goes along that also would be cool, like more ships, i dont know about effecting the gameplay though, that doesnt sound like too good an idea, but more races and ships maybe.

Right affecting gameplay is bad, unless you had "GS" only servers. Yeah i'd buy one when i saw the community kicking up (if they were reasonably priced)

hmm.... ideas for warpath...
Well, first a more varied weapon arsenal would be nice, right now its just the more it costs the better it is... maybe weapons that dont do much damage but have a large area of effect or vise versa, or do damage over time, etc.
Also it would be nice if you could choose your sector in the galaxy/solar system/whatever that each game takes place in.
The games would be nicer if they lasted alot longer. Like, money is a little harder to some by and the galaxy thingy could maybe be a little bigger and such.
More teams, like a green, yellow, and nuetral team would be cool.
A profile/stats section so you could log into diferent profiles with preset options and settings, and also you could check your stats such as total games played, total money acquired, etc.
I have more ideas but most of them are pretty pointless, so there ya go

i have a suggestion: when a world has high quantities of methane or oxygen gas, have it have a chance of exploding killing everyone on planet if hit by a weapon

How about an option to allow the bots to have unlimited ships? I gather as many planets as possible and use the taxes to smash the bot planets with plague. Almost always I win not because of my efforts, but because the bot kept deciding to colonize the barren planet next to 4 of my planets that love spamming neutron bombs and surprise, he dies. I'd love to allow the bot to continue on while I infect its planets.

It don't matter how many bots I add in, I still have the same problem with the AI deciding to go on suicide runs. I've had three bots lose their last ship within 20 seconds of each other.
