You can't actually SEE these, but monsters now have to obey the same rules of physics that you do. If a monster gets frisky and attacks several times in quick succession, the subsequent hits are not as powerful as the first.
It's nice. It lets me keep the monsters strong, while allowing you to plan your day better.
Presently this only affects their physical attacks (you could argue that limited MP resources already constrain their magical attacks. And the A57 monster magical attacks are more in line with their physical ones, so don't worry about their magic being 20x stronger than their physical any more)

I think the likelihood of animated angel/devil shoulder people (a la that cool Lucas Arts game... um... oh yeah Afterlife) is highly doubtful. [because of the animation issues]
As to a text based, manually initiated 'should I hit this guy' thing. Well, you could probably learn just as much from looking at their level...
Anyway, won't rule it out completely, as it is consistent with games of this nature.

Do the PLAYER charge meters even have any affect? I mean, I see 'em, but for some reason I seem to do about the same or often times even LESS damage when I wait to charge up. I always thought that since it took so long to charge, and monsters got so many hits off you, your attack should be at least 3 times as strong as normal, if not nearly as hard hitting as a 'magnificent hit.'
So far, I would have to say these should have been improved before giving them to monsters. It currently seems to me that monsters may be slightly stronger if they attack multiple times in succession, especially if, as you said, they 'obey the same rules of physics as you do.'

Yes, charge meters work, though not much (in A56) at least that's always been my opinion
From my understanding though, the way the monster meters work they won't get any STRONGER than they already are and the hits will be weaker if they don't wait for the meter to charge.

Please notice that the MONSTER charge meters are INVISIBLE. But if a monster's attack begins within 8 seconds of the beginning of the PREVIOUS attack, then it is DIMINISHED proportionally. (so an individual monster attacking no more than once every 8 seconds is never diminished).

it was a misnomer to say they follow the same physics as you.
For one thing, at the start of the scene they are all rested, while you start to charge from scratch
(on the other hand, they politely wait until they have walked on stage before hitting you, while you probably attack their kneecaps as soon as they appear).
[above assumes lagless connection, your results will vary]

When you dig up old topics you have to pretend that they are brand spankin' new. That's the way it is done.
